Aleta J. (Rettell) Seifert

Aleta J. (Rettell) Seifert, 60 of Cheboygan, passed away at her daughter’s home in Petoskey on Saturday, July 15, 2017.

Born in Belleville, Michigan on January 16, 1957, she was the daughter of Leroy and Shirley (Danner) Rettell.  Aleta spent much of her youth in Grayling and was a graduate of Grayling High School.  Later she attended Kirtland Community College graduating with an Associate’s Degree.

In the early 1990’s Aleta and her family moved to Cheboygan.  She was well known in the community for her more than 20 years of service to the Salvation Army where she was case manager.

Aleta enjoyed the outdoors, nature, birds and gardening.  She also enjoyed travel and she was an avid reader.

Aleta is survived by her children, Erika (Don Charboneau) of Petoskey, Monica DeMerell of Clare, Marie DeMerell of Clare, Morgan DeMerell of Farwell and Mallery DeMerell of Clare; grandchildren, Juliet, Gavyn, Evyn, Blake, Abel, Gage, Mason and Laci; a brother, Brian (Julie) Rettell of Cheboygan, sisters, Cindy (Bob) Lane of Grayling, Brenda Charboneau of Kalamazoo, Daria (Jerry) Deason of Nanjemoy, MD and Elena (Larry) Comps of Cheboygan; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Beaugrand Township Hall, 1999 N. Old Mackinaw Road in Cheboygan. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to her family through gofundme.com
