Charles Sackrider

Charles “Charlie” Sackrider, 73 of Wolverine, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey. Born in Abilene, Kansas on September 28, 1943, Charlie was the son of Wash and Mary Katherine Sackrider.

He retired from General Motors Company after 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, riding his motorcycle and being outdoors. He loved watching the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Team and spending time with his family.

On May 23, 1975 in Pontiac, he married Mayme (Mary) Sperry who survives. Also surviving are his children, Katherine Sackrider, Randy (Brenda) Sackrider, Sandra (Stanley) Grys all of Roseville, Theresa (Alex Garcia) Sackrider of Columbia TN., and Elizabeth Sackrider of Wolverine; special adopted children, Karen Ahrenberg of Waterford and Nicole Ahrenberg of Burton; grandchildren, Jacob, Daniel, Ray, Randy Jr., Bobby, Jackie, Billy, Kayla, Emily and Wil; his brother, Robert (April) Sackrider of Allen Park; his sisters, Barb (Dave) Hulan of Lincoln, NE., Jane Lawson of Rochester Hills, Patty (Dave) Anguiano of Kansas; and a very special nephew, Charlie Godfrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two sons, James and Anthony; his brother, Michael; his sisters, Maryanne Bruno and Kay Anguiano.

The family will visit with friends from 4:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 with Pastor Norm Oberlin officiating.  Interment will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery in Wolverine. A luncheon will take place at Wolverine Community Center following the cemetery.
